FIRST MAJOR SNOWFALL COVERS MILLSBERRY
Friday, December 17, 2004 — As Millsberry Gazette readers can easily see, late last night the first major snowfall of winter blanketed Millsberry. This is surely no surprise to any of our readers, as this morning all of Millsberry was covered in almost a foot of snow! Students of Millsberry Academy were delighted to hear that school had been called off on account of last night's snowfall - just in time for the winter holiday break!
"This is great!" Jacob Tassen told us as we interviewed him from the front of his house in Golden Valley. "I moved here in July, so I hadn't seen any real snow yet. It's really fantastic! I hear that there's even more up on Westridge, since it's up at a higher elevation. Maybe this afternoon, after the city has plowed the roads, my friends and I will head up there!"
Of course, not everyone is excited about the snow. Take, for instance, Mrs. Seashore, who had been planning a spelling test for today. "Well, what are you going to do, I guess? It seems the weather doesn't care about spelling tests," she laughed. "I trudged all the way in to the Academy, only to find out that classes were canceled today. Oh well, at least the kids are happy... no more spelling tests or class until after the holiday break."
Loretta Rivers, owner of the Millsberry Clothing Store, is excited for completely different reasons. "This is fantastic," she told us, bubbling with enthusiasm. "Until now, sales of winter clothes were slow, since it had been a relatively warm winter so far... thanks to last night's snow, however, sales today are booming! We have a really wide selection of winter hats, coats, and boots, so please drop by everyone... before you catch a cold!"
It's rumored that tonight, in honor of the season's first big snow, the Arcade in the downtown Entertainment Complex will stay open past its usual business hours to let residents try out a new game - Galactic Swirl Defender—that just came in—free of charge! Be sure to line up early, but don't forget your coat!
