Tuesday, December 23, 2008 — The end of the year is almost here, and you know what that means: Party time!

With 2008 winding down, everyone in Millsberry has been busy getting things in order for their New Year's Eve celebrations.

Many spent time collecting decorations, party favors, and other essentials, in preparation for the big night. And excitement about several different New Year's Eve parties has quickly spread around town.

The gathering creating the most buzz is Edna Nelson's dance party at Town Hall.

When asked about her party, Edna commented, "Some people think being old is just about sitting in rocking chairs and knitting things, but I enjoy breaking it down just like everyone else."

"I'm even having Recording Studio guru, Tony 'Tee-Ray' DJ the party," she added.

Over at the Recording Studio, Tony "Tee-Ray" was still thumbing through albums in preparation for the gig.

"Edna has excellent taste in music," Tony said. "She even helped me pick out a few tracks."

"Just because she's the curator of the Historical Society doesn't mean her taste in music is historic," he added.

Meanwhile, at Wearhouse, Loretta Rivers was picking out the perfect accessories for the night's festivities.

"There was one party where Edna challenged me to a dance-off. I held my own for a while, but in the end I couldn't keep up. She may not look it, but she's got some moves," said Loretta.

Laslo Balint recalled some of his own experiences with Edna and her dancing feet.

"We were having a charity dance-marathon," Laslo said. "Edna ended up being the last one standing. She even created her own signature move that night, the 'Edna Nelson.'"

Then Laslo attempted to demonstrate Edna's move.

"I can't really do it justice," he said. "It was way more impressive at the time."

Back at Town Hall, Edna was still preparing for her party.

"The floor's going to have to be a little slick if there's going to be any break-dancing," Edna yelled over the noise, while operating her floor-waxing machine. "This is going to be a great New Year's!"

Time to get ready for the big night. It's sure to be the party of the year!
